TotalCalcs. Material Calculators

About TotalCalcs

Free, accurate material calculators — no sign-up, no fuss.

TotalCalcs is a small, independent collection of free calculators for landscaping and construction materials. Our goal is simple: help you work out exactly how much material a project needs — in cubic yards, tons, bags, and estimated cost — without ads getting in the way of the answer, pop-ups, or a sign-up form.

What we cover

We build a focused calculator for each common material so the inputs, depth presets, and density figures are tuned to that material rather than a one-size-fits-all tool:

How the calculators work

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. It takes your length, width, and depth, converts everything to a common unit, and works out the volume (length × width × depth ÷ 27 for cubic yards). It then uses a published density figure for that material to convert volume into tons, and divides by a standard bag size to estimate bags. Where it matters, we add real-world extras that many calculators skip — a compaction or settling allowance, depth presets for common jobs, and an optional cost estimate based on a price you enter.

About the numbers

The densities and coverage figures we use are typical industry averages. Real materials vary with moisture, source, and how tightly they are packed, so our results are close estimates for planning — not guarantees. Always round up and confirm the final quantity with your supplier before ordering. We never set or fetch prices; any cost shown is based only on the price you type in.

Who runs this

TotalCalcs is run by an independent maker who got tired of bookmarking half-finished calculators. If a result looks off, or you’d like a calculator for a material we don’t cover yet, we’d genuinely like to hear it — please use our Contact page.
